Meet A Magician

March 4th, 2010 by Elizabeth

Meet Mike Dooley. I just met him for the first time today when a friend of mine shared his website. Perhaps you know him and have seen him and this video. If you haven’t, you are in for a treat. If you have, how lucky are you to have the opportunity again!  He is a bestselling author with the book “Infinite Possibilities” and was featured in “The Secret”.

Mike Dooley speaks the language of a wizard; a magician. He speaks this language simply and neatly and brings an understandable explanation of being an alchemist.  And it is not as though he is different than you or I. You and I have the same tools and abilities. He has simply discovered some keys to wielding his wand in a way to produce magic consistently in his life and it is inspiring.

One of the most powerful things that he shares is that it is best to visualize the end without attaching to how’s or specifics. Define the end; not how you are going to get there.  Incorporate his ideas into your regimin for discovering your personal alchemy.

Your mind may tell you that you’ve heard all of this before. But listen with new ears and open to new possibilities and perspectives. You may surprise yourself!

The Discovery of Your Personal Alchemy: #7

As I have been saying, discovering your inner magic is not about creating your inner Magic. On the contrary, you are loaded to the gills with Magic. It is about REDISCOVERING your inner magic. You have simply forgotten that you have this vast storehouse, this amazing bag of tricks. So here I present to you yet another key to rediscovering your Wizardly powers:

Music makes the world go around.

Magical music notes

It also can assist you in discovering your inner magic.

The beauty of music is that it can put you in touch with your wizardry in an instant. That’s because music is Life. It stirs our inner being. It touches our hearts. With its power it can remind us to breathe, to become present, to feel our hearts beating with the breath of Life. Its simplicity can bring a tear or a smile or even remind us of all the somethings that are beyond this 3-D dimension. It reminds us of love, passion, and beauty while it fills us with joy and peace. And that is where we find our inner Merlin–nestled within that vibration of love, joy, and peace.

My suggestion to you is that you make music more and more of a conscious choice in your everyday existence. Let it take you away to those magical creative places and let your vibration soar through the roof tops. Make it a part of your daily routine–just like brushing your teeth.

When you are feeling less than wizardly, put on your favorite tune. When you are looking to feel more empowerment, melt into a wonderful symphony. Or when you are simply wanting to find some peace and strength amidst a hectic day, fall into your favorite melody.

Below I share with you some songs that assist my magic in flowing forth. I know you have your favorites too.

Eva Cassidy: an all-time-favorite from an amazing beauty:

David Lanz: Simply magical…

You are the composer of your life. The symphony is yours to conduct and arrange and set to the music of your dreams. As you hear the lilting, magical melodies of your choosing, feel and know for sure that you are Merlin and Merlin is you. Your Magic Wand!

Merlin Is Me and I Am Merlin

February 21st, 2009 by Elizabeth

Thought does create. What we think about does show up in our lives. I always believed that. Always knew that thought is powerful and that the Universe is grand and magic happens. But it never hurts to have proof. I now have that proof. I am a wizard.

Last night I was out for a stroll in a lovely nearby town (Northampton, Massachusetts) and walked passed a bar and pizzeria that I had never seen before called Sam’s. In the mood for something other than a frozen dinner again, I popped inside. It was a lovely, festive hopping place filled with live entertainment and unique individuals ranging from teenage girls to hippies to a few drunk good ‘ol boys. Sam'sI decided to join this eclectic group and listen to the live music with a slice of pizza. I took a seat close to the performer amongst the tipsy rednecks, and I settled into some lovely Elton John and Jim Croce tunes as I enjoyed my steamy slice. As we were into a Gordon Lightfoot melody, an odd fellow sat next to me. At first he unnerved me a bit as he was a bit too close and appeared to be rather “unique” (to be polite). But then when I saw that he was reading “the Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle, I thought that maybe he wasn’t all that bad. Until I noticed his creepy stares in my direction. Then I really began feeling uncomfortable and began chewing faster. The more he looked the faster I chewed. I had just finished and was preparing to make my getaway when some oh-so-beautiful melodies began lilting from the guitar. I paused and thought, “Why does that sound so familiar?” What I heard next made my jaw drop to the floor and totally tune out my ogling admirer. It was “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack! If you are new to my blog, check out the post that I wrote three days ago. It is titled “I hope you dance”. I have the Lee Ann Womack song at the end, and I even purposely used her lyrics in different ways throughout my post! Stunning. Amazing. Magical. If you are sitting there saying, “Why? What’s the big deal?”, I will tell you. How bizarre is it that I “just happened” to be in Northampton in Sam’s where I had NEVER been before, didn’t know they had music, wasn’t even planning on being in Northampton that night, and an unscheduled musician plays a song I had just written about. I would have had a better chance of winning the Mega Millions or being struck by lightening twice.

I did make my hasty retreat after I picked up my jaw from the floor and listened to the song. All the way home I contemplated the miraculousness of this happening. What did it mean? What did it say to me? First it spoke to me of the power of thought. And then it spoke to me of the power of the Universe. And then it reminded me of the subtle and beautiful energy of the Universe that is continually conspiring and manipulating wonderful and glorious things for us without our even knowing. If I had arrived at Sam’s 15 minutes earlier or later, I would never have been there for the song. No wonder I had to drive around so long to find a parking place…something that never happens in that small town.

So, my friends, be on the look out for ways the Universe is conspiring to make your life miraculous and magical. How grand is that? I say that I am a wizard because I was co-creator of this amazing little event. I worked my alchemy without even knowing it.
Your Magic Wand

We are all wizards. Breathe in this glorious fact. Feel it. Know it. The magic is there all around you and within you. Just when you least expect it you will see a beautiful wand in your hand and your desires and dreams will have materialized at your feet. Merlin is all of us and we are all Merlin. That is for sure. I have proof.

The Joy Of Emotions

December 1st, 2008 by Elizabeth

Have you ever wondered what could actually be going on behind big, beautiful clouds on a dimly lit afternoon? Perhaps you could find sun, storm, wind, rain, or even the chill of snow.  There is so much going on with them; so much brilliant activity. How interesting to think that we are like those clouds and the brilliant activity underneath is our emotions.  As incredible and as masterful as they are,  they can color even the brightest of days.

So there you are, just zipping along on your road of bliss, and suddenly this boulder falls out of the sky right at your feet and you are covered by the dust of the impact. This is sometimes the way I see a sudden rise of an emotion; triggered by a thought, a word from another, or even a recalling of a past, present, or future incident.  These emotions of ours are so powerful, they can change the way we see our most present world.

Meditate on EmotionsBut I will share with you a trick that I discovered long ago, from a dear friend in Florida. It is totally fine that that boulder has fallen from the sky and landed at your feet (sometimes even feeling as though it has landed on your head…). It is there for a reason; to serve, to teach, to clear, to bring love.  And the suddenness of it all never ceases to amaze me. So it is my belief that we should be prepared. Be ready to just WATCH and LOOK and LISTEN to what it is telling us. What does it feel like? Is it pain, sorrow, grief, guilt, shame, anger, sadness? Do you see it as a color? Where in your body do you feel it? The minute we begin to honor that which has arisen, it will fall away and dissolve into that which it came from. It is the amazing art of being present with whatever arises. That is the cornerstone of vipissana meditation, and for me has helped to create an understanding of something that for so many years has made no sense. It seems that so many of us are wandering through our lives thinking we are reacting to what is in front of us when, often times, we are reacting to that which we feel arising within us. This can then lead to unfortunate mistakes in relationships, spoken untruths, and choices that arise from a lack of understanding of what is really going on for us as we project what is innocently coming up within onto the innocent bystander without.

Emotions can blanket us or they can free us. Taking time to respect them and study them and know them intimately has become an essential practice in my life.  And I will say that this understanding has led to a knowing  of freedom and love that seems so completely necessary for me to fully live this incredible life I have been gifted. Oh, it is not always easy, and sometimes the road seems to be quite treacherous. But loving the pain and whatever arises allows me to see the delightful, precious gemstones speckling my glorious path.  And the more I observe the arisings, the more clearly I can see the jewels.

The magic unfolds…

November 6th, 2008 by Elizabeth

Have you ever stepped into a space that just took your breath away? A place that just stopped you dead in your tracks as you caught your breath? That’s what has just happened here as I type my first dialogue on this sacred ground. And shouldn’t our words always be sheltered in sacredness? Too often we just fling out whatever comes to mind without thought of where it will land or even who or what it might devastate. Of all of God’s creatures, we have been given the hallowed gift of speech. The overall intention is of course to communicate, but how often do we realize that this is a privilege, an honor, a precious treasure?

MerlinAs I flow and fly along my amazing path from one adventure to the next, I am finally recognizing the magic we can create with a whisper, with a cry, with a laugh, with a piercing wail, and ultimately with the words that accompany all of that magic.  We are all related to Merlin, that amazing wizard.  Some of us have a closer relationship than others, but we all possess the ability to create the mysterious alchemy that he is all about. And within the sacred walls of this glorious blogsite, I intend to use the power and magic of words to heal, provoke to thought, inspire, educate, perhaps to help you smile, cry, or to simply understand.  No matter what, it is with great honor that I begin this journey with you.

Let’s wait, watch, and create magic together.
