Music of Maine and Beyond
December 9th, 2010 by Elizabeth
Years ago I used to work at a Thomas Kinkade Art Gallery in Voorhees , New Jersey in a large mall. One day as I was ringing up a sale, I heard a most glorious melody that stirred my heart and took me immediately to a place far away from the cement floors and walls of the retail world. The melodies of Tim Janis wafted up and took me away as his ensemble performed live for us, bringing Light and warmth to what I thought to be a lifeless environment.
Tim Janis is an American composer living in Kennebunk Maine and has sold over one million albums, created 4 National Public Television Specials, and has a constant touring presence. He has worked with some of the top artists in the music and entertainment business — from Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, and Ray Charles, to George Clooney and James Earl Jones.
As seen on his website: “Composer, musician, conductor and arranger Tim Janis is a story of a deep belief in the power of creating music that can heal and bring peace on a global level. His music has traveled a long and interesting journey into becoming a global healing force. This musical force has traveled to such diverse places as the hallowed ground of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City, Africa, China, Eastern Europe, the United States and numerous public television specials, enthralling a legion of fans.”
I had forgotten all about his musical magic until I began sharing of my favorite music with you! Let me know what you think!

The Wonderful World Of Music

Without music, life would be a mistake. ~Nietzsche
A dear friend of mine, Annemarie Wright, introduced this amazing vocalist to me–Josh Groban. I love this song in particular. When I watch the video, I am flooded with thoughts of all of those who in my life raise me up. I feel such gratitude to all of them. Who do you think of when you watch and listen to this beautiful melody and wonderful lyrics? I must say that one of those I think of is Annemarie. Thank you, my dear friend. I dedicate this song to you.
Sit back and drink in the beauty of Josh Groban.

Ahh…The Crooners. The music world just wouldn’t be the same without them. Here is one of my favorites. He brings a smile to my face, a bounce to my step, and with some of his songs, a tear to my eye. Let me know what you think!

Music has always been important to me, but I hate to admit that I have always been a Top 40′s kind of gal. But that has changed in the last year and a half since I met my boyfriend and moved to California. He enjoys opera to AC/DC and everything in between. So my horizons have begun to broaden as I find myself being willing to expand my musical tastes and knowledge.
So I have decided to share my forays into new musical styles and types with you all, and every week I shall share with you one of my new favorites. And I would love for you to share your comments (okay too if you don’t like my pick of the week!) and your favorites too!
Here’s this week’s fave:
Hayley Westenra. An angelic voice that stopped me in my tracks, perked my ears up, and made me say “who is that!?” Such beauty and chilling magic! Here she sings Ave Maria for us.
The Discovery of Your Personal Alchemy: #7

As I have been saying, discovering your inner magic is not about creating your inner Magic. On the contrary, you are loaded to the gills with Magic. It is about REDISCOVERING your inner magic. You have simply forgotten that you have this vast storehouse, this amazing bag of tricks. So here I present to you yet another key to rediscovering your Wizardly powers:
Music makes the world go around.

It also can assist you in discovering your inner magic.
The beauty of music is that it can put you in touch with your wizardry in an instant. That’s because music is Life. It stirs our inner being. It touches our hearts. With its power it can remind us to breathe, to become present, to feel our hearts beating with the breath of Life. Its simplicity can bring a tear or a smile or even remind us of all the somethings that are beyond this 3-D dimension. It reminds us of love, passion, and beauty while it fills us with joy and peace. And that is where we find our inner Merlin–nestled within that vibration of love, joy, and peace.
My suggestion to you is that you make music more and more of a conscious choice in your everyday existence. Let it take you away to those magical creative places and let your vibration soar through the roof tops. Make it a part of your daily routine–just like brushing your teeth.
When you are feeling less than wizardly, put on your favorite tune. When you are looking to feel more empowerment, melt into a wonderful symphony. Or when you are simply wanting to find some peace and strength amidst a hectic day, fall into your favorite melody.
Below I share with you some songs that assist my magic in flowing forth. I know you have your favorites too.
Eva Cassidy: an all-time-favorite from an amazing beauty:
David Lanz: Simply magical…
You are the composer of your life. The symphony is yours to conduct and arrange and set to the music of your dreams. As you hear the lilting, magical melodies of your choosing, feel and know for sure that you are Merlin and Merlin is you.

The Glorious Melodies Of Life
January 15th, 2009 by Elizabeth
Years ago I worked as a department manager at a Target store in south central Jersey. I must admit that I just flat out hated it. And one of the things that bothered me the most was the fact that there wasn’t (and still isn’t) any piped-in music in ANY Target store. The result of some silly survey I was told. But without the lovely tones of some generic musak piece in the background, there was nothing to detract from that voice in my head that was yelling, “get me outta here!” And the silence was enough to drive me crazy. But then there was the stockroom. Oh yes! The stockroom! I was always so thrilled if a customer couldn’t find something on the shelf and I had to go see what was in stock. Know why I was so excited? Because they were playing music back there! Even if those crazy stock boys were playing rap or some insane heavy metal, I would be smiling and moving to the beat! The tension would leave my body even for just a brief moment, and I would be reminded of LIFE.
Yes, that is what music is. It is Life. It stirs our inner being. It touches our hearts. It reminds us of love, passion, and beauty while it fills us with joy and peace. With its simplicity it can bring a tear or a smile or even remind us of all the somethings that are beyond this 3-D dimension. And with its power it can remind us to breathe, to become present, to feel our hearts beating with the breath of Life.
Ahhh…the power of music.
And with that I would like to share with you a glorious re-make of a song I know you all know, but when I heard it I fell in love. In love with that moment, in love with the piercing beauty of the melody, in love with All That Is. Yes, some of you may say that I’m a cornball, but that is how I would describe to you what was invoked within me as I heard the beauty of this amazing woman’s voice.
Open your heart as you listen to the Beauty that is Eva Cassidy. I hope you will join me in this simple bit of rapture.
